About this test

Examines a fresh stool sample for worm eggs, protozoa such as Giardia, blood and undigested food. Recommended for puppies and kittens, and for any pet with diarrhoea or weight loss.

What it measures

  • Colour and consistency
  • Occult blood
  • Worm eggs and larvae
  • Protozoa (Giardia, coccidia)
  • Undigested fat and starch

Before the test

  • A fresh sample from the same day. Our phlebotomist brings a sterile container.

Good to know

  • Worm eggs are shed on and off: if the result is clear but the signs go on, test again.
