Rabies Antibody Titre (FAVN)

Shows the rabies vaccination has worked: needed to take a pet abroad.

About this test

Measures the antibodies a rabies vaccination has produced. The EU, the UK, Australia and many other countries ask for a passing result (0.5 IU/ml or more) from an approved laboratory before a pet can enter. The sample goes to an approved lab, so the result takes about three weeks.

Before the test

Your pet needs a microchip, and the sample must be taken at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination. Keep the vaccination record ready.

Good to know

Check the destination country's rules first: many also require a waiting period after a passing result.
