Canine Parvovirus (CPV) Antigen Test

Rapid test for parvovirus in puppies with vomiting or diarrhoea.

About this test

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and often fatal infection of unvaccinated puppies. This test finds the virus in a stool sample. If your puppy is vomiting, has bloody diarrhoea or will not eat, call your vet straight away as well as booking the test.

Before the test

A fresh stool sample, or a rectal swab taken by our phlebotomist.

Good to know

A parvovirus vaccine given in the last 2 weeks can make the test read positive: tell the phlebotomist about recent vaccinations.
Early in the illness the test can read negative, so your vet may repeat it.
