About this test
Distemper is a serious virus of unvaccinated dogs, still common in India. It starts with fever, discharge from the eyes and nose, and a cough, and can go on to affect the gut and the nerves. This rapid test looks for the virus in a swab from the eyes or nose.
What it measures
- Canine distemper virus antigen
Good to know
- A distemper vaccine given in the last 2 weeks can affect the result: tell the phlebotomist about recent vaccinations.
- A negative result doesn't rule distemper out: your vet may confirm with a PCR test.
